Johannes Rass

Johannes Rass ́s works move between (light) installation and object, photography and performance. Stepping out of contexts within socio-political and socio-economic (consumer) processes and systems are recurring focal points in his projects. The artistic practice and media used are understood as an instrument for thematizing the ephemeral and fleeting and are understood as a narrative means: space, time and the right moment play an important role; they are sometimes snapshots that are staged and preserved in meticulously choreographed photographs. Johannes Rass studied tourism management and comparative literature and is a member of Künstlerhaus Wien. He currently lives and works in Vienna.
